Professional Practice


His practice includes assisting clients who wish to commence activities in Brazil, in consultation with all areas of expertise of the firm, especially in the corporate, labor, tax, litigation, intellectual property and contracts areas, and coordination of the interface among those practice areas, especially with clients from abroad, in the formulation of strategies and monitoring of activities until and following their completion. Assistance in the forms and options for the implementation of activities whether in the establishment, acquisition of and participation in companies, in the formation of joint ventures, or in the implementation of distribution and commercial representation agreements. Assistance in the structuring and implementation process until the company or the project reaches the operational stage, and beyond, helping in the identification and elimination of cultural gaps in the manner business in Brazil is to be conducted. Assistance to national clients in complex processes for the solution of disputes regarding division of assets, in negotiations and counseling, at all times with the support of the areas of expertise of the firm.

Frequent lecturer in the United States of America on “How to do business in and with Brazil”, as well as on “Legal, Political, Social and Economic Aspects of Brazil” since 1997, particularly in the city of Cleveland, Ohio, and in other cities within the state, in events promoted by different organizations such as the “Greater Cleveland International Lawyers’ Group”, “The Northeast Ohio International Business Network”, “Ohio Northeast Community”, “The Cleveland World Trade Center”, ”Dayton Development Coalition”, “Youngstown State University”, “Regional Chamber – Youngstown, Warren”, “The Ohio International Trade Assistance Center”, “City of Mentor – Ohio”, among others.

Administrative and Financial Manager of the firm Cosmopan Filmes de Publicidade Ltda. 1966-1969; Assistant Controller with Dow Química S.A., a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. Spent 18 months in a training program in Data Processing at the headquarters of Dow Chemical Latin America, in Coral Gables, Florida, United States of America in the years 1971/1972; Controller in a Brazilian subsidiary of Gould, Inc., and simultaneously, Business Development Manager of a Brazilian holding company of Gould, Inc., in Brazil, in 1973/1974. As of 1975, was a partner with a Brazilian company in Business Development Consulting and as of 1979, continued with his own company, aimed at assisting foreign companies with interest in developing business in Brazil.

In 1990, founded his own law firm, Nogueira do Vale Advogados Associados, and began the rendering of legal services to clients from abroad and from Brazil.

Em 1999, Nogueira do Vale Advogados Associados was merged into the law firm França Ribeiro Advocacia, of which he became a partner, developing activities in the area of foreign investment in Brazil, assisting clients from abroad through the formation of Brazilian subsidiaries, in M&A transactions, in the formation of joint-ventures and in the coordination of the firm with clients from abroad in the various areas of the law, including but not limited to corporate, tax, labor, litigation, intellectual property and contracts, among others.

In 2000, was responsible for the establishment of an affiliation of the firm with the North American law firm Baker & Hostetler, which was in place for over 12 years. He was also responsible for the establishment of an affiliation with the Mexican law firm Enrique González Aguirre y Ochoa (EGAO), currently EC Legal, as of 2007 and in the affiliation with the Israeli law firm Bam Deborin & Cohen, as of 2008.

Since 2004, participates in the informal organization called International Tax Group (ITG) that congregates tax attorneys from over 15 international jurisdictions.

Member of the Consultive Council of Robert Bosch Latin America from June, 2004 to April, 2017.

Academic Background

  • Bachelor of Law Degree – Faculdade de Direito de Bauru (Bauru Law School) – 1964.
  • Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration with the São Paulo School of Administration of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (1966/1968).
  • Attended classes for admission to an MBA program with the Richmond Professional Institute (William & Mary College), in Richmond, Virginia, USA. (1965/1966).
